Thorn Clasp

To ensure that a watch sits securely on the wrist, the right clasp is very important. The thorn clasp is the best-known type of fastener and ensures that the watch is held securely on the wrist. This special type of clasp is mainly used with non-metallic watch straps, for example leather, silicone or textile straps. In the mid-price segment, the thorn clasp is usually made of robust, scratch-resistant stainless steel. For watches in the luxury segment, it is usually made of gold, platinum or the material used for the watch case. The mechanism consists of a movable bow and a thorn-shaped tip that is inserted through the hole in the bracelet. Both elements are called the buckle and form the core of the thorn clasp. The bracelets here have several holes that allow individual adjustment to the respective wrist. Therefore, the bracelet can continue to be worn even if the circumference of the wrist changes in the course of life. The thorn clasp is one of the absolute classics among watch clasps and has a timeless design. The clasp also has the advantage that it is gentle on the watch band. This means that the buckle does not cause any extreme kinks in the strap, which leads to a long service life. To ensure that the end of the bracelet does not stick out in an annoying way but fits closely to the rest of the watch strap, most bracelets have sliding loops through which the end can be slid.
